"Breeze in the face, breeze in the face, just enough for a sailboat race."
This is the little song that Ari sings to Yemaya when it is windy. She loves the wind, it makes her laugh and kick her feet. I like to think that it reminds her of home.
Ari and I did actually go out for a sailboat race a few weeks ago (before life became too busy to do anything). Our boat was not the fastest, and in fact we thought it might be the slowest, until we heard the horn go off for another boat 10 minutes after we finished. It was dark by then so we couldn't really see them. Ari says we need new sails to go faster, I think we should save money and not worry about winning. Different philosophies I guess.

How did Yemaya do during teh race? Was she in the car seat? Looks like a lovely day! There's ALWAYS something to save for on a boat, but you know that :)
ReplyDeleteWell, we left Yemaya with my aunt. This was the first time I've been sailing without her since she was born. It was nice to not have a baby to tend to for a few hours!
ReplyDeleteNot win you must be crazy. Are you sure you didn't hit your head. You better get you dna checked to see if you are really Tom's daughter.
ReplyDeleteI love your little sailboat race song. You have to write a kids book for boat families! And then you could include little songs, and safety tips, and teach us non-boat families about the correct words for boat parts.
ReplyDeleteI like the song too- and the idea of you guys out racing with the wind in your faces- even if you weren't that competitive.
